Comprehensive list!
Nineteen eighty isn’t one of my favourite years-in-film, but once you see all these titles in one place, it doesn’t seem too shabby, either.
Of the films I’ve seen from your Top 10, I was most disappointed by Ordinary People; from the Honorable Mention, I still, very much, want to see Berlin Alexanderplatz; and, from the Undiscovered pile, I’m a big fan of Kagemusha (the battlefield-after-the-battle scene glues me to the screen and stops my heart every time I see it), which too often gets looked over as just a warm-up to Ran.

I know what you mean about this year. I had a real hard time picking the films. I mean, I like The Fog, but in any other year, I would be hard-pressed to put that in the top ten.
I think Ordinary People gets a bad rap because it beat out Raging Bull for Best Picture, but I really liked it. It’s not as good as Redford’s other film, Quiz Show, but there’s something about it that keeps me glued every time I see it.
I’ve got Kagemusha in my film queue. I think it’ll arrive in the mail in a couple of weeks.
